She has found much success on the hit Netflix show, “The Crown” and has won numerous accolades for her work on the program.
There was also a movie based on her hit show, The X-Files. Gillian Anderson appeared in other great roles in the late 1990’s with parts in films such as The Mighty and Playing By Heart which featured an all-star cast that included Sean Connery and Angelina Jolie. Bale will serve as the detective who is assigned to look into the aforementioned murders. He won his Academy Award for his role in the much-loved film, The Fighter. You may know him as a former Batman, but he goes by the name Christian Bale.
Oh, and by the way, there’s another Oscar-winning actor in this film. This film will revolve around a series of killings. Set in 1830, it will revolve around the early life of Edgar Allan Poe who is going to be played by Harry Melling. The movie is to be directed by Scott Cooper and is a dark thriller based on a popular novel from about 15 years ago. The Pale Blue Eye will feature two-time Emmy winner Anderson alongside a cast of distinguished performers which include Academy Award winning actor Robert Duvall ( Tender Mercies), Timothy Spall and Charlotte Gainsbourg, to name a few. Anderson was, unfortunately, robbed of an Oscar nomination for that role. Anderson also had the distinction of playing the wonderfully written character Lily Bart in Terence Davies’ masterpiece from 2000, The House of Mirth, which was based on Edith Wharton’s acclaimed book. How many of you watched the hit television show, “The X-Files” simply to see the terrific Gillian Anderson? No offense to the fine David Duchovny who held his own on the show, but Anderson was at the top of her game portraying Dana Scully and stole the show time and time again.
